Rift Valley — UNESCO World Heritage Site
Soysambu Conservancy
Soysambu is steeped in history as the home of the famous Lord Delamere. Converted from a cattle ranch to a game conservancy, it's an incredible safari destination and a chance to find lion, hyenas and the endangered Rothschild giraffe. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site — one of the only breeding locations in the world for pelicans, with bright pink banks covered in flamingos.
Accommodation
Soysambu has some of the most stunning campsites in Kenya, overlooking Lake Elmenteita with giant acacia forest. For something smarter, the 5* Elmenteita Serena Camp is an exceptional option.
Activities
Our main activity is a camel safari — meet your camels, load your equipment onto their backs and join the caravan for a walking safari like no other, passing through herds of animals and camping far from roads and people. We always finish with a 5* slap-up lunch around the pool at Serena Hotel. Soysambu is also home to world raptor expert Simon Thomsett — we can arrange a talk on his remarkable conservation work protecting birds of prey across Kenya.
